What skill level am I?
We have courses for all levels. We have categorized all of our courses into 4 easy to understand levels. See which one you fall into:
Level 1:
- You can play the instrument at a basic level, or in another genre
- You may not be able to read music or chord charts, and you aren’t familiar with jazz concepts or terms.
- You’re eager to start playing and are looking for step-by-step guidance to set out on your jazz journey.
Level 2:
- You can play the instrument but may not feel comfortable improvising yet.
- You may be able to read some music, charts or lead sheets.
- You’re ready to start soloing and learning basic tunes, so you can play with other musicians
Level 3:
- You’re comfortable in a jazz setting but may notice holes in your technique, swing feel, or theory.
- You have extensive experience playing from lead sheets and chord charts. Great ears work too!
- Well on your way to mastery, looking to dive into new concepts, improvisation ideas, and complex tunes.
Level 4:
- You’re a high-level player and improviser with performance experience.
- You prefer to learn new tunes by ear, but you know your way around a lead sheet as well.
- You’re looking for new inspiration from your favorite players and seek greater freedom, imagination, and fearlessness in your playing.
