What skill level am I?

We have courses for all levels. We have categorized all of our courses into 4 easy to understand levels. See which one you fall into:

Level 1:

  • You can play the instrument at a basic level, or in another genre
  • You may not be able to read music or chord charts, and you aren’t familiar with jazz concepts or terms.
  • You’re eager to start playing and are looking for step-by-step guidance to set out on your jazz journey.

Level 2:

  • You can play the instrument but may not feel comfortable improvising yet.
  • You may be able to read some music, charts or lead sheets.
  • You’re ready to start soloing and learning basic tunes, so you can play with other musicians

Level 3:

  • You’re comfortable in a jazz setting but may notice holes in your technique, swing feel, or theory.
  • You have extensive experience playing from lead sheets and chord charts. Great ears work too!
  • Well on your way to mastery, looking to dive into new concepts, improvisation ideas, and complex tunes.

Level 4:

  • You’re a high-level player and improviser with performance experience.
  • You prefer to learn new tunes by ear, but you know your way around a lead sheet as well.
  • You’re looking for new inspiration from your favorite players and seek greater freedom, imagination, and fearlessness in your playing.
